IN THE BEGINNING

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light and there was light. God saw that the light was good and He separated the light from the darkness." Genesis 1:1-4

The start of Creation is documented in Genesis, Chapter 1, where we are reminded that "In the beginning, God…" Nothing came before God Himself as He set forth to create "the heavens and the earth". Take a moment to fathom this act of God and you can’t help but be awestruck.

Now the earth wasn’t fully formed at the end of God’s first day of creation. Scripture states that it "was formless and empty" and dark. More would come in the ensuing days but God did add light before He finished His work on Day 1, separating it from the darkness.

As I read about these early stages of creation I can’t help but draw some parallels to the way God replicated this work inside of me, just as He has done and will continue to do inside others who come to know and trust Him. For inside of me was a dark, formless, empty soul that needed to be crafted and shaped into something useful…something God could use to His glory. God entered into the darkness of my soul and brought light…a light that would ever lead me to where He abides…to the place of righteousness, mercy, and love. Thanks be to God for His wonderful light.

Question: Have you welcomed God into your soul and allowed Him to form you from the inside out? Have you received His light that will overcome any darkness you have within? If the answer to either of these two questions is no, then why not ask God to enter in today? He is waiting to give you a new beginning and create you to His glory from the inside out.

In Christ,

Mark
