The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

We all have the opportunity to glorify something.

Sometimes, it’s people in the entertainment business like actors, actresses, singers, or musicians.

Sometimes, it’s people who are political leaders, usually on a national level like presidents or other elected officials like representatives and senators.

Some people like to glorify themselves more than anything else, choosing to be the center of their own adoration.

There are plenty of other examples, maybe you can think of others, because the world certainly offers us plenty of options.

But here’s the thing. No thing or no one is worthy of glory like God is. Not one below Him is worthy of real glory, and everything and everyone is below Him. Far below Him.

The Apostle Paul knew this and wanted the Christians in Ephesus to know it too. Look at his words that close out chapter 3 of his letter to the Ephesians:

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Vv. 20-21

Why does God deserve all glory?

Paul gives two main reasons.

1. Because He can do immeasurably more that we can ask or even imagine.

God can do all things. There is nothing beyond the work of His hands. No one possesses this ability but Him and so no one is worthy of the praise He should receive for His matchless power and majesty.

2. God’s power is passed onto His believers.

The very power of God, that caused miracles to happen in biblical times and still makes them happen today, is the power infused into every person who places their full faith and trust in Him. Through our Lord, we can do all things and endure whatever life might bring our way.

No one can do what God has done and no one can do what He can do, now and forever. This is why the church and the Christian believers within need to give God the glory and give eternal thanks for the gift of Christ Jesus, His only Son, the One He sent to save. May all believers exalt the God Most High through every generation, now and forever more.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
