The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself.

Ephesians 1:22-23 NLT

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

The Bible is full of absolute statements.

At the start of Romans, chapter 8, verse 1, we read where there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

No means no. It doesn’t mean that some who believe in Jesus will be condemned while others will not. It means that absolutely no one will be condemned is they are in Christ.

In Matthew 19:26, Jesus states that with His Father God, everything is possible (NLT).

Everything means everything. It doesn’t mean that there are some things out of the capability of God. Rather, there’s nothing that He can’t do to include choose to delegate full authority onto His Son Jesus as we see affirmed in the closing two verses of Ephesians, chapter 1:

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself. Ephesians 1:22-23 NLT

All means all. It doesn’t mean that God has only pass on authority to Jesus over some things. Rather, there isn’t anything that Christ doesn’t have authority over. He is supremely in charge of, the head over all things including the church which is His body. This is why you will find congregations or the Christian church as a collective referred to as a “body of Christ”.

Indeed, Christian churches only have their identity because of Jesus, the Savior of the world, the One who puts the Christ in Christian. The church is “made full and complete” because of Him who is omnipresent, simply meaning that Jesus is everywhere. He fills all things, not just some things, with Himself.

Friends, as we rejoice and worship our Lord Jesus, let us give thanks for the absolutes we find in the scriptures, absolutes that assure us that we are not condemned, that we serve a God who can do anything, and that He has appointed His Son to rule and reign over us, the Savior of the world who fills all things with His Spirit and presence.

Thanks be to God for the indescribable gift of His Son (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
