The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and He has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. God did this so in the future world He could show how truly good and kind He is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done.

Ephesians 2:6-7 CEV

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

In the opening verses of Ephesians, chapter 2, we find the Apostle Paul providing a Gospel refresher to the believers in Ephesus. Specifically he reminded them that:

...before God intervened with His plan of redemption, they were dead in their transgressions and sin.

...as they lived in transgressions and sin, Satan was at work within them, fueling their desires to gratify the cravings of their flesh.

...because of this choice to chase after their own wants, disobedient to the God who made them, they were deserving of His punishment and wrath.

...God didn’t wish to bring His judgment on His people and so out of His rich love and mercy, He made us alive with Christ and saved them by grace through faith alone.

It’s a very sequential, flowing summary and as we see in today’s two verses, it concludes with the final outcome from receiving God’s salvation through His Son. Look again at verses 6 and 7 of Ephesians 2:

God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and He has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. God did this so in the future world He could show how truly good and kind He is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. Ephesians 2:6-7 CEV

All Christians were once spiritually dead but God uses the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the grave to elevate all saved people from death to life. And as if that wasn’t enough in its own right, God seats all Christ believers beside His Son in heaven where they will abide for all eternity.

It’s the ultimate reward anyone could ever hope for and one doesn’t have to do anything to earn it except believe in Jesus as Savior. That’s it.

Believe and receive God’s highest level of goodness and kindness, a goodness and kindness that has been made known through the generations up to present times and will continue to be made know in the future.

I don’t know about you but my highest level of rejoicing in life comes by knowing I am already assured a place with Jesus my Savior in heaven. The best is yet to come.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
