In Christ, Mark
The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him. The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered His love and His faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Well, it’s after 7 PM on the east coast and the world hasn’t ended yet. Actually, if it weren’t for the blustery cool conditions outside, I wouldn’t even be giving much thought to anything outside of my laptop and this devotion. Once again, God’s word has proven more true than anything else man has tried to concoct. One of these days we’ll get it. We’ll get that no one knows the time or the place when Christ will return and hit the reset button on the world and all creation (Matthew 24:36).
Yes, only five hours left in this day, a day that the Lord has made and one that I am rejoicing and glad in. In fact, as I typically do, I was singing at the top of my lungs in my car on the way home, lifting my voice in praise along with the Christian song on the radio as I considered how good God has been.
As I read the opening verses to the 98th Psalm, I couldn’t help but think the psalmist was in a similar mindset as he was putting words to paper. Look at these words:
Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him. The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered His love and His faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
The psalm exhorts us to sing out to the Lord in a spirit of praise for all the marvelous things He has done. Today, as we celebrate the Christmas season, we celebrate the birth of Jesus and are reminded of the salvation promise that was born into the world with Him in Bethlehem’s lowly manger.
Ever since that day more than 2,000 years ago, the Lord has been making His salvation known and revealed to all the nations. All have experienced His faithful grace, mercy, and love; none have been excluded.
Indeed, as the psalmist writes, “All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.” This salvation, fully evident through Jesus Christ, has been offered to everyone for all have seen it but not all have received and accepted it. Maybe that’s the saddest thing for me every Christmas. That in the midst of my great joy and celebration, I am saddened that so many people would reject the greatest gift God has ever given in Jesus and in doing so, turn a blind eye toward experiencing the rich fullness of Christ through receiving Him and sealing a place in all eternity with Him.
Question: Have you seen salvation?
God’s word says you have along with all of mankind. No one will have an excuse when Jesus returns and finds they had not received His offer of salvation. Their eyes will be open to the truth they denied and unfortunately the destruction that decision brought.
Friends, if you haven’t seen salvation, I pray you’ll open up your eyes and freely receive it today. For then, you too will want to join the saints who have done it already, fully experiencing the fullest measure of God’s unconditional love while praising and worshiping Jesus who came to this world to save us.
Amen.
In Christ,
Mark
