ALL PRAISE TO THE ONE AND ONLY GOD

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that Your love stands firm forever, that You have established Your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’”

The heavens praise Your wonders, Lord, Your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; He is more awesome than all who surround him. Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and Your faithfulness surrounds you.

Psalm 89:1-8

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

As we consider our lives and how blessed we are, we should never forget that we have God with us. After all, it’s the foundation of our faith and the one thing we can always hold onto, no matter what life brings our way.

In the opening verses of Psalm 89, we find a primer for all believers, words for us all to hold dear to persevere through the good and bad of life. In fact, I think we would be well served to have these words posted near where we spend a lot of time, in order to be a ready reference and reminder of how good we have it through the power and providence of God being ever by our side. Look at these words of the psalmist:

Note how all things reference praise for the one and only God of all things, the Maker and Creator of the world and everyone residing in it. Truly, there is no one in heaven or on earth who is His rival, no one who can match His power, might, and strength. This God, the God who formed everything, is for us and is faithful even though we are less than faithful to Him. He never fails us and He never stops loving us. He is patient and forgiving and merciful and gracious.

Truly, where would we be without Him?

This God of David’s time is the God of our time. He has remained the same throughout the generations and He will continue to be God of all forever, no matter what. He has reigned, is reigning, and will always reign as the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords. No authority anywhere trumps the authority of the Lord God Almighty.

So how are we to respond to this word of the Lord?

The same way the psalmist did: in praise.

For we should never rest in telling everyone about God’s great, enduring love and His undying, persistent faithfulness. We should never cease to share all the ways God has blessed us abundantly in life. And we should never stop seeking to glorify and honor God at every opportunity, for only He is worthy of it.

In the end, our declaration needs to be simply this:

All praise to the one and only God, now and forever more.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
