The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary.

Isaiah 40:28

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Today is the second in the four part series, “Do You Not Know? Have You Not Heard?,“ drawn from the closing verses of Isaiah, Chapter 40. Yesterday, we looked at the truth that the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of the ends of the earth, is our everlasting God, working through the ages to intervene and help His people through their circumstances.

As we move to part two, we read this truth about this everlasting God who made us and cherishes us, His children, because He is our heavenly Father:

He (the Lord) will not grow tired or weary.

I think sometimes, we make the mistake of somehow comparing God to any other person we know. I say this because I can’t count how many times I have heard people say things like, “God is too busy to worry about me and what I am going through” or “God must be tired of hearing me pray to Him all the time about my problems” or “God doesn’t have the power to help me get through my problem. It’s too great for that.”

Sometimes, we act like we don’t know or have refused to hear what the scriptures tell us about this God we serve.

For not only does the Bible tell us He never grows tired or weary but we learn a whole multitude of other things about Him, things like the following:

1. He is good and always works things for the good of those who love Him.

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in His ways. Psalm 25:8

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

2. He is forgiving, extending His grace and mercy unto us.

You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to You. Psalm 86:5

The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him. Daniel 9:9

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

3. He is patient.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

4. He is holy and desires that we be as well.

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. Psalm 99:9

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. 2 Timothy 1:9

5. He is a giver.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights. James 1:17

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11

6. He is available.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

7. He is our strength and helps us be strong enough to get through any situation.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

8. He is the Prince of peace and imparts His peace to us when we trust Him with our problems.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

9. He is perfect.

As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless. Psalm 18:30

10. He is love.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.

This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:7-19

Goodness, forgiveness, grace and mercy. Patience, holiness, and charity. Availability, strength, peace, perfection, and love.

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

We have all this and so much more when we place our full faith, hope, and trust in the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of the ends of the earth, the One who never tires or grows weary.

Thanks be to God for all He is to us, now and forever.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
