SING PRAISE

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk@aol.com.

In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.

For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved.

God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise.

God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.

Psalm 47

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Out of all the elements of worship, nothing moves my heart as much as a song of praise lifted up to the Lord Most High. Whether a classic hymn or a contemporary praise song, there’s just something about music that lifts my soul to the highest dimension. Maybe you can relate.

If you listen to contemporary Christian music, you probably have a song or songs that have moved you in some special way, a song or songs that spoke to your heart and raised your spirit. I know I have a list.

On that list is a song by one of the best Christian songwriters of our generation, Chris Tomlin. The song, "How Awesome is the Lord Most High," contains the following lyrics:

Great are You, Lord
Mighty in strength
You are faithful
You will ever be

We will praise You
All of our days
It's for Your glory
We offer everything

Raise your hands, all you nations
Shout to God all creation
How awesome is the Lord most high

Where You send us
God, we will go
You're the answer
We want the world to know

We will trust You
When You call our name
Where You lead us
We'll follow all the way

We will praise You together
For now and forever
How awesome is the Lord most high

Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
How awesome is the Lord most high

Now look at the 47th Psalm. For it was the words of the psalmist more than 2,000 years ago that inspired this modern day song to be written. Here is the psalm:

We were created to worship the Lord Most High who is awesome and almighty in power. Nothing equals His majesty and strength. No one rivals His rule over all of creation for He and He alone is the great King over all the earth.

This Lord Most High has done immeasurable good for His people, working indescribably amazing miracles. His wonder is ever on display for us and thus we exalt the Lord over all on earth. And we bask in the safety of His protection and providence with the Lord as our Stronghold, Refuge, and Rescue.

He is our Deliverer, our Redeemer, and the author of our Salvation. His grace, mercy, and love were no greater expressed than through His willing sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. The Lord Most High was not willing to let His people perish. He valued us that much.

Friends, there is no one more worthy of our praise than the Lord Most High who is awesome in might and magnificence. Let us praise Him together for now and forever, until the day when we are with Him and we experience the best worship experience ever – an experience where we will do nothing but sing praise for eternity.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
