NO LIMITS

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk@aol.com.

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, His holy mountain.

Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King. God is in her citadels; He has shown himself to be her fortress.

When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together, they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror. Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor. You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind.

As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the Lord Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever.

Within Your temple, O God, we meditate on Your unfailing love. Like Your name, O God, Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of Your judgments.

Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.

For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.

Psalm 48

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

As we look at our life, we find we have limits, right?

We can only drive so fast because there are speed limits. We can only stay awake for so long because there are limits to how long our bodies can go without sleep. We can spend money but we are limited by how much money or credit we have. And when we work out, whether running or lifting weights, we find we can only run so far and lift so much before we exceed our physical limitations.

Indeed, because of our humanity we are constrained in what we can accomplish.

Conversely, God is not. He has no limits.

The Bible tells us as such as we look into the matters of God.

Regarding what He can do, we read Jesus say,” With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Regarding His covenant promise, consider the rainbow. What did God say about it? He spoke the following words: “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” Genesis 9:15-17 An everlasting covenant has no limits and God has stayed true to His promise as He does with everything He pledges to do.

Regarding how long God will endure, Habakkuk said, “Lord, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, you will never die.” Habukkuk 1:12

And looking to the words in the 48th Psalm, we discover the following:

“Within Your temple, O God, we meditate on Your unfailing love.”

There are no boundaries to the love the Father holds for mankind.

How serious was He about making this so?

So serious that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, as a living sacrifice who shed His precious blood and died on Calvary’s cross before ascending from the tomb on the third day to open up the doors of eternal living to all of us.

Our God who has no limits fully displayed His boundless love by removing the limit placed on human beings by death, death that lost its sting and was swallowed up by the victory gained by Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:54). Remember, nothing is impossible with God.

And so how should we as a people of God respond to His amazing goodness?

We should praise Him, not just some of the time, but all of the time. Consider this word from 2nd Corinthians:

“The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever.” 2 Corinthians 11:31

Our praise is to have no limits.

Going back to our psalm, God’s word further says this about God:

“Like Your name, O God, Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.”

God’s kingdom is endless and our praise if to be likewise. We have so much to be thankful for as God places no limit on the blessings He bestows upon us either.

Limitless works. Limitless kept promises. Limitless power. Limitless goodness. Limitless grace and mercy and love.

Friends, we are to give thanks to the Lord for He is good. For His love and everything about Him endures forever (1 Chronicles 16:34). Not just now but forever.

For let us always remember the opening words of this psalm and make them our opening words each day:

“Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise.”

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
