A LIFE BLESSED BY GOD

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to faithhopegodlove@aol.com In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.

He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.

For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

2 Samuel 22:31-35

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

As I have reflected and meditated on the Lord during this Lenten season, I have been reminded over and over of how my life has been blessed by Him. From my wife to my children to my parents, brothers and sisters to my career and to my ministry, the Lord has been so very good to me.

Maybe you have done this also of late and if you haven’t you should. Because by staying focused on all the ways the Lord has blessed us, we can remain in a spirit of praise and thanksgiving…the kind of spirit that the Lord expects us to have in life,

We have seen David adopt this kind of spirit…the spirit of praise and thanksgiving as we have broken down and studied his song of praise in Chapter 22 of 2nd Samuel. In today’s passage, we see David break down all the blessings that come with living for the Lord.

First of all, when we are living for the Lord fully, we find ourselves living perfectly…because He is perfect. When His spirit is alive and well inside of us, leading us to His will for our lives, then we will be living as He expects us to live…a life punctuated by righteousness and truth.

Secondly, when we are living for the Lord, we find ourselves living by His word and sharing that word with others. And since the word of the Lord is flawless, we can rest assured that we will always live and speak in truth as we use it. There are few absolutes in life but the flawless nature of the Lord’s word easily qualifies as one of them.

Third, we are blessed by the Lord’s protection when we are living for Him. David found himself consistently protected and shielded from his enemies as he took refuge in God. We will find the same when we fully recognize Him as the God of wonders who can do all things through the mighty works of His hands in accordance with His will for us….and with that, seek refuge in Him.

Fourth, God is God…and God alone. He has no rival. There is no other god but God. And so we need not worry about what God to turn to when we have a need like the polytheistic religions of the world. No…we have one God who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords…one God who continuously showers us with His blessings and love.

Fifth, God blesses us with a solid platform from which to build our lives. He is the Rock that we can stand firm upon and know we are safe and sure…no matter what circumstances life brings our way.

And finally, God blesses us with strength to make it through every day He blesses us with. And when we realize this, we understand that we can’t do anything by way of our own power but only through God’s power granted to us. This power enabled David to possess “feet like the feet of a deer” and the ability to “stand on the heights”…to have hands prepared for battle and arms strong enough to “bend a bow of bronze”. Indeed, David had been granted all the strength he needed to make it through…and the good news is that God offers us the same strength and power…we need only seek Him, believe and trust in Him and Him alone and then receive the bounty of His blessings.

Yes friends, through the Lord we are so very blessed in life. And my prayer is that we remain focused on this truth while letting others always see in us the hope that lives within us…hope not just for today but forever more. Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
