The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

“Return, faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”

Jeremiah 3:14-15

This ends today’s reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Have you ever found yourself lost in life and needing guidance, possibly after failing and falling as result of sin?

I think we all have been there and if you haven’t, just wait because a time will come in your life when you will experience it.

So where can we find the direction we’re looking for in these times?

The answer is found in two verses as we continue our study of Jeremiah 3. Look again at these words:

“Return, faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”  Jeremiah 3:14-15

As we saw in yesterday’s devotion, any starting point for reconciliation with the Lord when we have sinned requires that we return to Him and acknowledge our sins through repentance. The Lord is always calling on His lost ones to come back to Him, and when they do, He will provide shepherds for them to lead them to where He wants them to be, to a place of knowledge and understanding of what He expects and how to live in a way that meets those expectations.

So who has been your provided shepherd?

The Lord could use anyone for the role.

Maybe He gives you shepherding through your pastor or Sunday School teacher. Maybe He provides shepherding through a parent or other loved one. Maybe He sends you shepherding through a counselor. And maybe, just maybe, He might even use a blog writer like myself to spiritually shepherd you through the words He gives me to write every day.

At least, that is my prayer and motivation through The Christian Walk Ministry and I hope it is a daily blessing to you as I share what the Lord places on my heart through the work of the Holy Spirit.

One thing is certain. The Lord will provide a shepherd to anyone who has strayed from His path of righteousness into sin. All they need to do is show a desire to return to Him and repent.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
