The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

“This is what the Lord says to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of. I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.”

Isaiah 45:1a, 19b

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Have you ever been deceived by someone you trusted?

Unfortunately, it happens all the time and I don’t believe we ever get used to being lied to. It seems to hurt more and more every time it occurs and in its worst case form, we even come to a point where we just refuse to believe anything someone says after experiencing repeated falsehoods.

In the end translation, I think we all are looking for a sense of confidence that we can always believe in someone as being undeniably honest and true in all that they say. Therein is the challenge for us in life, for there is no one who is infallible, no one who is not prone to sin and all the wickedness it can manifest in us to include lying.

This is why we need the Lord, the only One who is perfect in every way, the only One who always speaks truth. He told us as much. Look at today’s key verse from Isaiah 45:

“I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.”

We have heard the Lord speaking to us through His word over the last fifteen devotions as He has given us assurances about who He is and what He is doing, has done, and is yet to do. There is no need to question or doubt anything He has said to us through this series or anywhere else in His word or through the power of His Holy Spirit because the Lord speaks the truth and declares what is right. Not just some of the time, but all of it. When you think of truth, you need to think of the Lord and seek His guidance in all things.

You see, this is the way we can prevent falling prey to deception and dishonesty. Human beings can be very convincing and persuasive in the things they say, particularly when they are weaving a web of mistruths. Don’t ever underestimate the cunning and guile of Satan, our enemy and if you doubt it, just go back to Matthew, Chapter 4 and watch him try and mislead Jesus into sin. And while you’re there, pay close attention to how Jesus fights off Satan’s lies. He does so by using the words of the Lord, the words that always bring truth.

Friends, through the word of the Lord and the honest direction of the Holy Spirit, we can always validate anything someone is trying to convince us to believe. I welcome all to do this with anything you hear or read to include all of the devotions I write because I want you to know that the words I share are words of truth. I commune closely with the Lord via the Holy Spirit to make sure this happens.

Know and trust that when we use the baseline of perfect truth we have in the Lord, the things we are being led to believe will either align if they are true or be skewed badly if they are false. The Lord has promised us that everything done in the dark will be brought to light and that definitely includes any deceptions we encounter.

Won’t you give thanks with me today that we serve a Lord of truth who we can always trust. In Him and Him alone do we find perfect righteousness.

We know because He told us so.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
