The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Romans 10:15b

This ends today’s reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

The Lord sends people to preach the good news of the Gospel to those who need to hear it so they might choose to believe and know the Savior to call on in order to be saved.

That is the message we find a sequencing of events detailed by the Apostle Paul between verses 13 and 15 in Romans 10 and as we see, it begins with proactivity. The Gospel doesn’t just sit idly by waiting for someone to stumble into it. No, it is shared by people who answer the Lord’s call to evangelism, those sent to bring the good news of God’s love and salvation as expressed through His Son who was sent to bear the iniquities of mankind and save sinners.

Perhaps there is no greater privilege than to be used by God as a courier of His Gospel message to other. And when this happens and people decide to come to Christ and gain eternal life, there is no more beautiful outcome from anything else we do in life.

This is why we find Paul paraphrasing the words of the prophet Isaiah in the latter part of verse 15:

As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Isaiah put it this way:

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’” Isaiah 52:7

An Old Testament proclamation that rang true in Paul’s day and still rings true today.

There is beauty in evangelism and Jesus calls all of us to participate in it, to be the beautiful hands and feet that carry on His ministry work to the masses who still need to hear about the Savior Jesus who God sent from Heaven to earth to save lost sinners like them.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
