The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.

Ephesians 3:14-15 NLT

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

God is good and is so all the time. Indeed, there are no gaps in His kindness and provision as it is from everlasting to everlasting.

Like a parent loves and cares for their child with a passionate devotion, so too does the Lord watch over and is mindful of His. He ever meets the needs of His people who He adores and is devoted to.

Consider this intentionally every day, counting all the blessings God gives, and you will find yourself in the place the Apostle Paul was in the closing verses of Ephesians 3, in a spirit of thanksgiving. Look again at His words here:

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. Vv. 14-15 NLT

What was the “all this” Paul refers to?

You have to look at the preceding verses in this chapter where the Apostle shares the good news found in God’s new covenant with His people, a covenant where anyone could gain salvation, rather Jew or Gentile. All a person had to do was believe in Jesus and they would be saved from their sins and gain eternal life.

This was a spiritual game changer of epic proportion. For before God put His new plan into motion, nations upon nations of people were without hope, sinners facing judgment and punishment from a God who hated sin. The fullest extent of God’s wrath leading to eternal torment and damnation was in their future. There wasn’t a more terrible place to be, then or now.

But God so loved the world that He gave Jesus, His only Son, to save it. Those who placed their faith and trust in Him wouldn’t perish but gain eternal life (John 3:16).

But this wasn’t all.

For anyone who believed in Jesus would also become a co-heir with Him to the very Kingdom of God, a share of the greatest inheritance ever.

Belief in Jesus brings the guarantee of eternal life. In the first verse of Romans, chapter 8, we are reminded that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. We are pardoned and freed from the penalty of sin and given a special key to a mansion Jesus has prepared for us. Thus, there is no need for our hearts to be troubled (John 14:1-3) and we can approach our Father God with confidence, knowing we are redeemed and justified by the blood of His Son.

This is why Paul fell to His knees and prayed with thanksgiving and praise to the God, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. It’s why we need to do the same thing, each and every day.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
