The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say,
“People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the Word of the Lord remains forever.”
And that Word is the Good News that was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:23-25
This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.
The Bible is full of assurances that our Lord and His Holy Word, the Word that serves to guide and direct all Christian believers will exist for all eternity.
In regard to our Savior, we find this in the thirteenth chapter of Paul’s letter to the Hebrew Christians:
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. v.8
Jesus is alive and will exist forever as will everything associated with Him to include the salvation one gains when they place their belief in Him, the Lamb of God who came and took away the sins of the world (John 1:29).
His saving and justification endure forever.
His way of life, captured within the four New Testament Gospels, is ours to follow and conform to forever.
And His perfect love for us will always be everlasting.
Our Lord Jesus has no expiration date and as we look at our passage for today from the closing verses of 1 Peter, chapter 1, neither does the Holy Word of the God Most High. Look again at those words here:
For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say,
“People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the Word of the Lord remains forever.”
And that Word is the Good News that was preached to you. Vv. 23-25
The life for anyone born again into Christ Jesus will never end for whosoever believed in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). By using just one single verse from John’s Gospel, we see how words from the “eternal, living Word of God” guarantee a Christian’s life will “last forever”. And thankfully, this Word will not expire ever terminate just as the Savior Jesus it proclaims. For while “grass withers” and the “flower fades” over time, the “Word of the Lord remains forever” and it was this “Good News” that was not only preached to those Peter wrote to, the exiled elect of God who were “scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia” (v.1), but also to Christian believers today.
Friends, Christians, past and present and future, need never be concerned that the Jesus they believe in, or the Word that presents Him as Savior, will ever change or disappear from the world. For both have been, are, and will always be present for Jesus disciples for all eternity.
I pray you will join me today in rejoicing over this truth and commit to share it with others in the week, months, and years to come.
Amen.
In Christ,
Mark
