The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.”
Romans 8:18-21 (NLT)
This ends today’s reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.
From the advent of life until death, every single person goes through the same progression.
They are born sinners into a world that celebrates sin by a God who hates sin. That’s the curse all mankind has suffered through since the fall in Eden’s garden when Adam and Eve, the first couple, decided to willingly disobey God and do the opposite of what He commanded them to do.
Indeed, the life spent living on earth is one filled with a lot of sorrows and hardships. Anyone who has lived for any amount of time can attest to that. In fact, anytime we find ourselves in what is seemingly a good place, we seem to always wonder when it’s all going to end, when the proverbial bottom is going to fall out of our joy and prosperity, leaving us in a place of loss and despair.
It would all be so depressing if God had not given us something to look forward to.
For God so loved His creation, not wishing for them to perish under the curse of their sinfulness, that He made a way to break the bondage of iniquity, a way to set the captives free, a way that would destine someone for glory instead of judgment and destruction.
That way was through a man named Jesus, the very Son of God Himself. An atonement of epic spiritual magnitude was needed to cover the sin of all mankind, a perfect unblemished sacrifice would the only thing that would do. Jesus was that sacrifice.
So God gave up His one and only Son so whosoever would believe in Him as Savior would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). And not only did a person become saved through that belief, they would also gain the gift of the Holy Spirit, become children of God, and be granted the privilege to be a co-heir of God’s kingdom.
In other words, a Christian has much to look forward to.
Yes, this life might bring difficulty and suffering but any trials and tribulations will pale in comparison to the glory that awaits a Christ believer when this life is over, a life that will be revealed to us later. I’m under the belief that we’re allowed to go through the highs and lows of this world so that we’re ready to put it all behind one day. I know I join in countless other Christians who are waiting with eager hope for that future day when God sends Jesus back to earth to bring His children to His side.
The old song speaks about the amazing excitement that will be in the air when the saints come marching into God’s kingdom. It brings me peace to know I will be in that number and I pray you have that peace as well. If not, why not accept Jesus as your Savior right this very minute and be saved? I assure you that you’ll never regret that decision.
Amen.
In Christ,
Mark
