The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.
I will tell of the kindnesses of
the Lord, the deeds for which He is to be praised, according to all the Lord has
done for us—yes, the many good things He has done for Israel, according to His
compassion and many kindnesses.
Isaiah 63:7
This ends today’s
reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.
We like to share good news, don’t
we?
I see it all the time on social media
as any number of my 855 friends are posting this or that about their days and
the experiences they are having.
There’s just something about
experiencing goodness or kindness from others or stories we hear about such
occurrences that compels us to want to tell others. And for those of us on the
receiving end, we enjoy reading about the blessings that others have received
for they have a way of blessing us indirectly.
But with all this, we need to
always consider this. No matter how much goodness and kindness we might receive
from people on earth, the Lord God Almighty provides us with infinitely more,
so much more that we should be consistently and persistently testifying about
it to anyone we see.
This is the theme of today’s
devotion drawn from just a single verse from Isaiah 63. Look again at those
words here:
I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which He is to
be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us—yes, the many good things
He has done for Israel, according to His compassion and many kindnesses. Isaiah 63:7
Note here that the prophet Isaiah
is making it crystal clear that he is devoted to testifying about God’s benevolence
and blessings to others. Specifically, he mentions:
1. The kindness and compassion of the Lord.
When we think of the Lord’s
kindness, we can’t help but be drawn to His grace and mercy. Because of our
sins and wickedness, God could have allowed us to perish but out of His deep
compassion for us, He made the way for us to find pardon from our sins through
His Son Jesus who He sent to earth to pay the sin death penalty for us. Since
that day, whosoever believes in Jesus as Savior will not perish but have
everlasting life, all because of the kindness of the Lord.
2. The deeds for which the Lord is to be praised.
How much has the Lord done for you
in your life? How many times has He done deeds for you or others to change your
life and help you through difficult situations or circumstances? How many times
has He rained down His blessings upon you?
If you started making a list, you
would not have enough paper or time to count all the praiseworthy things the
Lord has done for you. Thus, we should have no shortage of things to testify of
to others.
Friends, we hear people say, and
maybe you have said it as well, “God is good all the time.” We say it because it’s
true. As we get set to start a new week, let’s all commit ourselves to tell
someone every day about the goodness and kindness of the Lord, highlighting all
the great deeds He has done in our life to draw our praise.
Amen
In
Christ,
Mark
PS: Please share this with anyone you feel might be blessed by it.
