THE WAY TO REAL LIFE

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.
The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead.
Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.
Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.
The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

Proverbs 11:6, 11:8, 11:19, 11:21, 12:28, 16:17, 21:21

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

What is the way to life?

It would seem like a silly question to someone who looks at it from a strictly world perspective. They would say that the way to life starts with sexual intercourse between a man and woman leading to a woman conceiving and then giving birth some nine months later to a living being who begins their journey called life. There’s no other way, right?

If you were looking at it from the world’s view, of course the answer would be yes. But looking at it from a Christian view, we find that while physical conception does lead to life, it doesn’t lead to real life, a life that promises life, not just in the here and now, but forever.

You see, there was a birth that happened more than 2,000 years ago that changed everything. It came from a conception that was like no other. There had never been one before it and there has never been one since it. The Bible gives us an account of it here:

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of his father David, and He will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; His kingdom will never end.”

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.  Luke 1:26-38

And so it was. Mary conceived, not of man, but of the Holy Spirit. It was a special conception, a life created like no other, a child who would be known as Jesus, the Son of the Most High, the Son of God. This man Jesus was sent by God as a Lamb to take away the sins of the world. John the Baptist declared as much (John 1:29).Indeed, God had sent His Son Jesus in a special way to change life as it was known then, as it is known now, and as it will be known until His return, forever. Indeed, life was redefined by Jesus and it’s only through Him that we find our way to the real life, a life that blesses, sustains, and brings joy in this present worldly life but also brings us life after death.

Want to get to heaven? Want to be assured life with God after this life is over?

You have to first accept Jesus as your personal Savior. He is the only way to life forever. He is the only way to the Father. Period. He told us so in this verse:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

We live in Him today to live with Him forever. That’s the only way it works when we’re seeking to live the real life. And when we live in Him, then we will live in righteousness for He is righteousness in its most perfect sense. Through Jesus, we never need to worry whether we’re walking the right path because He will always have us on the narrow path that leads to life eternal (Matthew 7:13-14).

This righteous walk with Jesus bears us fruit as we walk through this worldly life, so much more than the world could ever offer. Look at what Solomon has to say about righteous living:

1. The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires. Proverbs 11:6

2. The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead. Proverbs 11:8

3. Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death. Proverbs 11:19

4. Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. Proverbs 11:21

5. In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. Proverbs 12:28

6. The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives. Proverbs 16:17

7. Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor. Proverbs 21:21

Deliverance. Rescue. Freedom. Preservation. Prosperity. Honor. Life, and not just any life but the real life.

Yes, the righteousness we gain through our personal relationship with Jesus brings us all these things and so much more.

Why would anyone want to live any other way?

If you are counted in that number, won’t you turn to Jesus and ask Him into your heart, mind, and soul right now? Won’t you make Him the Lord of all you are and allow Him to guide you in righteousness? Won’t you accept His free gift of salvation, understanding that He died on the cross of Calvary, the unblemished Lamb of God sacrificed to pay the price for your sins as well as the sins of all mankind? Won’t you allow the ways of Jesus to become your ways?

Through Christ, won’t you find your way to the real life and reserve your seat with Him and God in heaven today?

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
