LIVING IN VICTORY

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

He (the Lord) holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.

Proverbs 2:7-8

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Do you see yourself as a person of victory?

As a Christian and a believer, you always should.

We find some affirmation of this truth in today’s passage from the Proverbs as well as some other scripture excerpts we’ll look at in a moment. Here’s God’s word for today from Proverbs:

He (the Lord) holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.

Being victorious means that we are winners and are not defeated. The Lord ensures we are this way, ensuring we are successful, shielding us as we walk through life, guarding the courses that we travel, and protecting us from harm.

Yes, living in victory - shielded, protected, and guarded against the enemy (Satan) - begins and ends with living in the Lord. Those who find themselves triumphant are the ones who are righteous and upright, the ones who seek to serve Him with all they do and with all their heart and mind and soul. They are the ones who realize and testify that they do not win by their own efforts but only through the power and strength of a Lord who delivers them and brings them into victory over any nemesis.

The psalmist put it this way:

It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your face, for You loved them. Psalm 44:3

We don’t live in victory because we can defend ourselves. We live in victory because the Lord delights in preserving those who see Him as their hope in life. He watches over and protects those who see Him as their Protector, Defender, and Redeemer, the One who provides shielding, rescue, and refuge in times of trouble. Indeed, the Lord is our very present help when we find ourselves in need. No one is for us like He is. No one blesses us like He does. No one has the power to save us except for Him. And no one can offer us victory but Him. No one.

Look again at these words from the psalmist:

For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory. Psalm 149:4

A person who lives in spiritual humility knows that that they would be nothing without the Lord. Jesus referred to us as branches on the vine with Him being the vine. A branch cut off from the vine withers and dies away while a branch that stays attached flourishes. Jesus lived and died so we could have life and have it to the full. He was given up as a substitutionary sacrifice for us by God because He loved us to much to allow us to be crushed and defeated, a place that we were heading because of our sinfulness. Something had to happen for us to have victory and that something was Jesus crucified on Calvary’s cross, the perfect Lamb of God who was pierced for our transgressions so that we might live. Because of this, we need to proclaim loudly the words of the Apostle Paul to the church in Corinth:

Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

Yes, God loves those who love Him and place their faith and trust in His Son Jesus as Lord and Savior. Through Jesus, the only way to the God the Father (John 14:6), He offered us an opportunity to dwell with Him forever through the salvation from our sins, a chance to experience victory over death when this worldly life ends.

Friends, we have good news to tell the world about today and every day we’re blessed with. We have victory over death through Jesus Christ and our relationship with Him allows us to have a new identity, an identity that says I am a Christian, one who is striving to live as He lived.

Let us ever tell all we encounter of the victory we have in Jesus, and live our lives each and every day like we’re people of victory.

Trust me when I say that others will want to discover Jesus and join you in their own lives.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
