LET EVERYTHING PRAISE THE LORD

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

In Christ, Mark

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the heights above.

Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His heavenly hosts.

Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you shining stars.

Praise Him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at His command they were created, and He established them forever and ever — He issued a decree that will never pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens. And He has raised up for His people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart.

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of His faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory. Let His faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them — this is the glory of all his faithful people.

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens.

Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with timbrel and dancing, praise Him with the strings and pipe, praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 148, 149, and 150

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

As the Psalms come to an end, we find three praise psalms that culminate with one simple command:

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

If we’re alive, we’re to praise the Lord. It doesn’t get any more simple than that.

Our lives are to be a proclamation of persistent and consistent thanksgiving unto the only One who is worthy to receive it.

He is to be praised by all things no matter the location, whether in the heavens or the heights above or the waters above the seas.

He is to be praised by the angels and all the heavenly host, by kings and all nations, by princes and all rules on earth, by old and young men and women alike.

Even other parts of creation are to praise the Lord, the sun and moon and shining stars, the great sea creatures and the ocean depths, the lightning and hail and snow and clouds and stormy winds, the mountains and hills, the fruit and cedar trees, the wild animals and cattle and small creatures and birds.

The Lord’s name alone is to be exalted as we witness His splendor, glory, and majesty on full display.

We’re to offer our praise in song as we join to assemble and worship Him. We’re to praise Him with dancing and music made from a number of instruments which includes the timbrel and harp, the trumpet and harp and lyre, the strings and pipe, and the clash of resounding cymbals.

We’re to bring our praise to the Lord because of His acts of power and surpassing greatness, for no one can rival the might and authority of the Lord Most High.

When we do this, when everything in all creation praises and exalts the Lord, then and only then will we be in a place where the Lord will take delight in us and crown us in victory through His Son Jesus Christ, the only One through which we can be saved, the only One who can get us to the Father.

If there’s anything we have learned through the study of the Psalms, it’s that we serve a God who loves and cares for us dearly, a God who shows us continual mercy and grace, a God through which all things are possible, a God who rescues and delivers and provides and protects and sustains.

We would be nothing without Him and so let us give Him all our praise now and forever.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
