The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6:9-10

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

God is the great Provider of all things, wouldn’t you agree?

I mean, the Bible tells us as much, right?

Look at these words from James, chapter 1:

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights. v.17

If there’s anything good in our world, the source is God the Father, period. Hold that thought for a moment.

Now, let’s look at our two verses for today from Galatians, chapter 6, the closing chapter of this letter where we find the Apostle Paul encouraging the Christians in Galatia to live in a certain way. He writes:

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Vv. 9-10

The God who sends every perfect gift from above is the God who provides us life every day. It is a gift from the Maker and Master of all creation.

Every day has 24 hours and every hour has 60 minutes with each minute containing 60 seconds. These days are chock full of opportunities if we see life that way. Think about how radical it is to view how your life plays out through that lens.

Every second of every minute of every hour of every day could be a chance to do something and in the scope of our scripture passage today, a chance to do something good. Your possibilities are endless. You just need to commit yourself to seek them and then take action when you find them.

God’s word calls us to never weary as we pursue this calling to do good. We’re to continuously reap a harvest of goodness through what we do for people, not just some but all. This means we aren’t to discriminate in regard to who we serve.

In other words, we don’t have the right to withdraw doing good for someone because we feel they aren’t worthy. That’s not our call to make.

This is because it’s totally God’s call. It always has been and it always will be.

If He is the great Giver of every good thing then that means He will always lead us to do good to other in His name and through His will. He uses us to be His instruments of goodness. Think about how awesome a privilege that is.

Jesus never ceased to do good because He perfectly sought and carried out the will of His Father. As Christians, we are to follow His lead and allow the purposes of God, the Giver of what is good, to bring us to opportunities where we can extend His goodness to His people.

If we all would do this, can you see our world changing in a big way, changing for the good?

I do because our God would be making it happen through us.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
