GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

What you have seen with your eyes do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end If your neighbor puts you to shame?

Proverbs 25:8

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

How often have you seen this happen?

A person thinks they have been wronged in some way by another and publicly accuses them of such only to find out later that they were wrong because they didn’t take the time to establish truth from falsehood.

There have been more than a few people who have been left embarrassed and ashamed of themselves, their reputations sometimes permanently marred, in the aftermath of situations like this.

In our humanity, we are often really bad about getting all our facts straight before we form opinions or accusations against others, opinions and accusations we often vent publicly, opinions and accusations that can place others in a negative light.

Yes, there’s a lot at stake when we begin to enter areas in life when we choose to bring allegations against people. This is why the word of God for today from Proverbs, chapter 25 is critically important. Look at these words of Solomon rekindled by King Hezekiah in this collection of wise sayings:

What you have seen with your eyes do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end If your neighbor puts you to shame? Proverbs 25:8

The call here is for caution, caution to ensure you have all your ducks in a row before you bring a charge against another. For if you don’t then you face the negative outcome of being shamed and looking foolish when the truth is revealed and the alleged offender is acquitted of the charge you brought hastily.

So how do we know when to challenge another and when not to?

It’s pretty easy actually. For as we have observed in many other situations, the Lord is the one and only true source for knowing how to live right and righteously.

Want to know the proper thing to do?

Go to the Lord.

Want to be seen as a person who is wise and discerning?

Go to the Lord always and let Him drive your judgments and decisions.

Want to know the truth?

Go to the Lord. For He will always ensure you have your facts right.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
