The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

Romans 14:9

This ends today’s reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

Do you believe in Jesus as Savior or not?

It’s a question literally based on life and death for every person.

Jesus Himself said this:

“I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

In other words, if a person doesn’t believe in Jesus, then heaven is not a possibility. It’s as simple as that.

We all belong to God. Yesterday’s message was centered on this point as we looked at the first eight verses of chapter 14. As we look at verse 9, we find Paul telling his readers that because of this, because all people belong to God, Jesus is the Lord over the dead and the living. He was placed in authority over all things by God the Father (Matthew 28:18) and all people fall under the “all things” category.

And so, your life, my life, everyone’s life hinges on Jesus when it comes to either living with God forever or experiencing eternal damnation and torment.

Believe in Him and you will be perpetually saved.

Reject Him and you will be perpetually damned.

God didn’t wish for anyone to be perpetually damned. He so loved the world that He gave up Jesus, His one and only Son, so whoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). And so Jesus died, bearing the sins of all mankind on Calvary’s cross, before being brought back to life by God and elevated to power at His right hand. He and only He rose and conquered the grave so that others could do likewise. All they needed to do is believe in Him as Savior.

So where do you stand today? Do you believe in Jesus as Savior or not?

If you still have yet to believe in God’s Son, the only One who can bring you to the Father and heaven, I encourage you to do so right now. Don’t delay any longer and place yourself in a position of compromise, a position where you could pass up eternal life for an everlasting afterlife in Hell.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
