AN ENDURING, PERFECT FAITHFULNESS

Can I pray for you in any way? Send any prayer requests to OurChristianWalk.com.

The scriptures. May God bless the reading of His holy word.

Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures.

Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve You. If Your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have preserved my life. Save me, for I am Yours; I have sought out Your precepts. The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder Your statutes.

To all perfection I see a limit, but Your commands are boundless.

Psalm 119:89-96

This ends this reading from God's holy word. Thanks be to God.

If you were to define someone as faithful, what would you say about them?

Maybe you would talk about their loyalty or you might discuss the matter of devotion. You would also probably talk at length about commitment and dedication and reliability.

We all want to be surrounded by people like this, don’t we?

To emphasize this point, let me ask you about the following:

1. How do you feel when someone you thought had your back instead stabs you there? I’ve been there and it’s terrible to have your trust violated.

2. How do you feel when someone you gave your heart to decided to turn from you and give their heart to someone else? I can tell you from personal experience that it hurts and often hurts badly.

3. How do you feel when someone you thought was in with you on something suddenly chooses to pull back and abandon their side of the deal?

4. How do you feel when someone you needed to help you with something could never be counted on?

I think many of us if not all of us have experienced the angst and sometimes distress that comes from someone not remaining faithful. And if it happens enough to us, we can find our hearts hardened, unwilling to trust anyone. I have been around people like this, people who have been burned so many times that they refuse to allow themselves to be in a position to ever be burned again. Maybe you know someone like this. Maybe that person could be you.

So what are we to do today in our quest for a faithful counterpart?

In my life, I had to learn to turn to the One who has been faithful for the ages, since the dawn of mankind.

Truly, in God we find an enduring, perfect faithfulness, One who has always loved His people and stayed committed to them even when they were not committed to Him. This God is our God today, the God who is ever with us, the God who is still watching over us, the God who is still steadfast in His allegiance.

Look at the excerpt from the 119th Psalm and you’ll find these words:

Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures.

God was, is, and will always be faithful, perfectly faithful. His Holy Word assures us of this, a Word that is as everlasting as His faithfulness. Look again to the psalm:

Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Enduring, perfect, faithful scripture filled with enduring, perfect, faithful promises inspired by an enduring, perfect, faithful God, a God who will never fail in His loyalty, devotion, commitment, dedication, and reliability unto us.

Friends, if you’re searching for someone who is unerringly faithful to you, your search today is over. Turn to God and receive the One who will never leave you nor forsake you, the One who will always stand by your side in the good times and bad, the One you can always count on, the One who has been faithful for all generations and will continue to be so forever.

Amen.

In Christ,

Mark
